About
University
I studied game development first at Columbia College Chicago before transferring to DePaul University. I studied the effectiveness of user testing, technical writing, and how game-level structure informs user choice when providing play instructions.
These topics converged to become, “user onboarding”- aka “game tutorials.”
My studies would see implementation in two senior capstone projects:
An augmented reality project I was invited to work on with my professor
And a first-person puzzle game, nominated for a Unity3D Student Award at Unite in 2013
Career
For the past 13 years, I have been active in assuring care for users within the game development industry. First as a Quality Tester working on mobile and PC games, then moving to consoles, and leading small teams to ship VR games in Chicago.
I eventually moved to Los Angeles in 2017 and found a new home at Cloud Imperium Games working on Star Citizen. First as a Senior Analyst, and later a User Experience Designer for the Star Engine Editor.
Recently…
In my most recent role at Intrepid Studios, I was embedded within the Ashes of Creation Systems Team. I ensured quality for gameplay features and improved debug tool user experiences.
